Mia Familia (Journalwithme#52)

This journal entry wants to know about three family members of mine and why I love them so much. Honestly, I’m very blessed to have such a caring, loving and supportive family. I know my immediate family will be there for any need, and for that I thank them immensely.

I wrote a previous Journal With Me that involved relating my immediate family to characters from classic sitcom shows, so I feel like you as a reader would be able to sense some of their personality quirks from that post.

I would like to focus this post on some of my extended family, three individuals who wouldn’t receive recognition usually because they’re not as active in my day to day life, yet hold a powerful place within my heart.

In no particular order, I would like to introduce you to my Aunt Pat. She is the classic funny aunt, the one who has a sarcastic witty comeback for nearly every conversation piece thrown at her. She is the fun aunt, the one who was always willing to go for walks down to the beach with us, the one who took us to the park on a beautiful day when our parents just wanted to relax. I’m a board game buff, and she was always game for any board game. I swear I inherited my competitive streak from her. I wish I could see her more often because she was such a positive influence on my life.

The next person would be my other aunt Donna. She is a calming presence in a room full of destruction. She is always up for a nice, long conversation over a drink on a patio and loves to engage in anything relating to family. She’s helpful to a fault, and will go above and beyond to help those she cares about. She has helped me so much with my family history research, and she continuously sends me updates and new information as she discovers them.

The last person I would like to acknowledge is my husband’s aunt Bev. Auntie Bev is always up for anything. She’s a social butterfly, and the family event planner. She organizes all the get togethers for that side of the family, and is detailed down to the rhinestones. She is a family person, and always there in the blink of an eye if anyone needs her for anything. She has a heart of gold, and truly is one of the sweetest people out there.

These three individuals are just the tip of the iceberg for my amazing family. I am so blessed to be surrounded by people who share the same outlook on family life as I do. I wish I lived closer to my extended family in particular, because I feel like I would spend more time with them.
