We are currently redoing my daughter’s bedroom in order to transform it from her nursery, to her “big girl” room. I thought a piece of art identifying her space, hanging from her bedroom door, would be a cool addition to her room. I felt like it would personalize it a bit more, and it would be a conversation piece for anyone who came to visit.
It is a super simple activity for kids of all ages to do! All it requires are a few simple art supplies, and a whole lot of creativity. Here is a short list of what you need:
- Large craft sticks
- Glue gun and sticks
- Small popsicle sticks
- Twine or string
- Decorative pieces
- Paint and brushes
- White glue
Some suggestions for “decorative pieces?”
- Foam shapes
- Fabric clippings
It all begins with putting together the frame. Take five large craft sticks, and line them up horizontally. Take two small popsicle sticks, and hot glue them just off the edge of the frame in order to stabilize the frame.
Next, hot glue the twine or yarn around the tops of the small popsicle sticks in order to create a hanging component.
Creativity time! I gave my toddlers three paint choices (all primary colors) because I thought they would be the prettiest ones. It worked out pretty well!
It’s decoration time! A few embellishments here and there and the name plates are looking pretty. Feel free to get creative!
That’s it! Super simple craft that can be placed in a playroom, bedroom or hung on a door.
