Opportunity can arise at any moment in your life. It can present itself at the most inconvenient of times, but if it does arise, the temptation is there to take it even if it would be difficult to do. This week’s question asks:
“What is a life long goal you have?”
My ultimate goal, one that I’ve been daydreaming about since I was a young girl, is to publish a novel. I want to see my name on the beautiful cover of a best selling novel. I want to be able to show my children in the future that anything is possible, and that they can pursue any dream, no matter how far away it seems to be.
My challenge for this is finding the time to write. My blog is one thing – I can squeeze in a bit of prep time for posts during nap time for my daughter and the daycare children, or I write after she goes to bed for the evening. My posts, for the most part, are pre-planned with jotted notes in my Notes app on my phone.
Writing a novel takes commitment. It takes creativity, and persistence. You need to be able to focus on what you’re writing in order for it to make sense, since you’re creating a world from the inner depths of your imagination. I currently have multiple works on the go, but one I was taking seriously for a long time until I dove head first into this blog. That novel is now on a back burner, but I would love to get back into it. Problem is, having a toddler, running a home daycare and then being pregnant on top of that throws curve balls in my path. And yes, I know this totally contradicts what I said above about being able to do anything, but sometimes there are priorities that need to be met before I can settle down and focus on my work.
I have a family history book on the go right now – a guide to my own personal family history. It is a HUGE undertaking, and when I feel the inspiration and have the time, I dive into it. I love writing down my discoveries and findings and putting them all together in a writing program with photographs and other documentation. My goal is to finish this book for my children and their cousins, so they can see their family history laid out neatly for them. My hope is that they will be interested to see where they come from.
I’m also working on a fiction novel that is taking some time to write (the one I spoke about above), and I have a couple other side projects on the go that I feel the inspiration to contribute to every now and then. Most of those are just ideas that have been lingering around in my mind for a while but there’s no real plan to develop them at this point in time.
