Love Bug Art

This is one of the most simple art activities ever. You can customize it in so many ways and simplify it for younger kids or make it more complex for the older ones.

All you need is:

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue (hot glue optional)
  • Things to decorate (glitter, foam cutouts, markers, bingo dabbers etc)
  • Googly eyes
  • Pipecleaners

This art activity is SO EASY.

Start by cutting heart shapes to form the body of the love bug. Cut a roundish head and glue it in between the middle fold of the heart shape, on the back.

Write the child’s name and the date, and then let them have free reign over the decorating process. This is the best part! While they’re going to town with their creativity, take the pipecleaner and fold it in half. Cut the two halves. Bend the half of the pipecleaner in half again, and twist it gently at the bottom. Twist the loose ends of the pipecleaner to curl the antennae out.

When they’re done, depending on their age, either hot glue the googly eyes and pipecleaner antennas to the head of the lovebug, or let them do it with white glue. Expect a mess if you go that route because pipecleaners take a while to dry on!

And voila! Adorable customizable love bug crafts for an easy art project for Valentine’s Day!
